How can 300,000 people get together to end homelessness?

It's a Labor of Love, our campaign to encourage SkyConcert attendees to help The Salvation Army wipe out homelessness in Indianapolis.

We're currently drafting 200 volunteers to collect generosity by the bucket.

Here's the lowdown:

• Volunteer in teams of two to mingle among the crowds at SkyConcert, armed with a bucket to collect donations from SkyConcert patrons (it's totally official, we are the charity of choice this year).
• Get a free t-shirt. To wear. While completing the above task.
• Get a dinner, compliments of Quality Connection and IBEW 481.
• Get a private area to watch the fireworks from 9:30 - 10:00pm.
• Get a warm, fuzzy feeling knowing that the money you are collecting will helps The Salvation Army end homelessness in Indianapolis. The Salvation Army is committed to doing the most good with these donations to offer shelter, security, and support to men, women, and children who are homeless in Indiana.
• Get a workout. Think of the calories you'll burn during the 3:30 - 11:00 shift.
• Have fun. Meet new people. See the brightly colored fireworks display. Enjoy the atmosphere at White River State Park.

Okay, okay. To do the above, we have a simple request: You (and a friend) contact our Volunteer Coordinator to pick one of the following orientation times. There you will get all the info you need, your t-shirt, your photo taken for an id badge, and a couple snacks, all on us.

An estimated 300,000 people will be downtown for Hank's Advantage Health SkyConcert. We need 200 of them to be doing the most good for our Labor of Love campaign. Together, we can wipe out homelessness. Volunteer today.

Currently, we have three scheduled orientation open houses. They're set up as come, learn and go orientations, so don't worry about setting aside 3-4 hours...how about 30 minutes?

• Saturday, August 16th, 9am-Noon
• Thursday, August 21st, 3:30-7:30pm
• Monday, August 25th, 3:30-7:30pm

But, if you do make it out to SkyConcert (and why wouldn't you? It's right downtown at the White River State Park) find some t-shirt wearing, bucket-wielding, smile-having volunteers and drop your generous gift (in paper or coin form) in the bucket. We'll even have some stationary Red Kettles if you prefer to pretend it's Christmas (which is just right around the corner after all.)
